With the arrival of Mathieu Renaud, codename Kraken, submarines gain an Officer specialized in engaging surface fleets. Kraken enhances submarine effectiveness against ships, increasing their impact on naval engagements. Kraken is an anti-naval Officer designed primarily to pressure surface vessels such as Cruisers and Iron Tide. While he provides secondary bonuses in submarine-to-submarine combat, his main role is strengthening underwater attacks against surface fleets.
Tactical Role & Strengths
Kraken is built for submarine supremacy:
- Enhances submarine effectiveness against surface ships
- Reinforces submarine-on-submarine combat
- Excels at ambushing and dismantling naval task forces
Buffed Units
Kraken’s buffs apply only to the stack he commands. Splitting units will immediately remove all buffs.
Affected Units:
- Attack Submarines
- Missile Submarines
- Elite Submarines
- Kraken himself
Kraken Access and Deployment
The Kraken must be purchased individually or as part of a bundle, and it must be unlocked before any research can begin. Mobilisation requires both a Level 2 Naval Base and a Level 2 Recruitment Office. Only one Kraken may be deployed per match, although it can be used across multiple matches. Any buffs apply exclusively to the Kraken’s unit stack, and all buffs are removed immediately if the units are separated.
Officer Levels & Bonuses
As Kraken levels up, his command over submarine warfare grows steadily more lethal. Early levels provide consistent increases to ship and submarine attack power alongside improved sea speed, reinforcing Kraken as a strong offensive naval commander from the outset.
Kraken’s progression is intentionally balanced around two major power spikes at Levels 5 and 10. At Level 5, passive regeneration is introduced, transforming Kraken from a purely aggressive commander into one capable of sustaining prolonged naval engagements. From this point onward, players can strategically position Kraken led fleets in coastal waters to maximize healing while maintaining pressure on enemy forces.
At Level 10, Kraken reaches his peak effectiveness, combining massive offensive bonuses with greatly increased regeneration. This allows his navy to outlast opponents in drawn out battles, dominate contested seas, and aggressively contest coastal zones with minimal downtime.

Strategic Use
Kraken thrives in controlled naval engagements. He is not a frontline brawler, but a predator, best used to:
- Break enemy cruiser formations
- Dominate contested sea lanes
- Force opponents into costly ASW investments
- Punish unprotected naval stacks
Command him carefully, protect him from ASW, and the ocean itself becomes your weapon.
